Ancient Roman Republic silver denarius issued by L. Aemilius Lepidus Paullus, struck at Rome in approximately 62 BC.
Obverse: Veiled and diademed head of Concordia facing right, with the legend PAVLLVS LEPIDVS CONCORDIA.
Reverse: Trophy at center, with L. Aemilius Paullus standing to the right and the captive Macedonian king Perseus and his two sons to the left. TER appears above.
Importantly, the exergue on this coin appears to read PAVLVS, with a single L, rather than the more commonly encountered PAVLLVS. This is a recognized scarcer legend variety of the issue.

The coin appears to have been cleaned and/or lightly polished at some point in the past, although the cleaning does not appear harsh. There is also a prominent old edge notch/cut at approximately the 9 o\'clock position, possibly an ancient test or banker\'s cut.
The obverse retains a substantial portion of the legend, while the reverse trophy, TER inscription, figures and distinctive PAVLVS exergue remain visible.
The reverse commemorates the victory of L. Aemilius Paullus over King Perseus of Macedon at the Battle of Pydna in 168 BC, an event that effectively ended the Macedonian monarchy.
Please examine the enlarged photographs carefully for condition, surfaces, strike, centering and the edge cut. Ancient coins were individually struck by hand, so irregularities are normal.
