Antique PZH Plazuid Gouda Holland Art Deco Hand-Painted Pottery Platter / Tray – Model 846Beautiful antique Dutch art pottery platter or serving tray produced by Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH / Plazuid), Gouda, Holland, dating approximately to the late 1920s / early 1930s.The platter features a striking hand-painted Art Deco floral and scrolling design in deep cobalt blue, blue-gray, yellow, rust/red and cream, surrounded by a dramatic dark black glazed rim. The shaped, gently scalloped form gives the piece an especially attractive architectural appearance.The underside is extensively hand marked and includes the Plazuid Gouda Holland signature, the PZH factory/Lazarus Gate symbol, 846, an additional 501 marking, painter/decorator markings, and a handwritten décor name that appears to read “Lakonu” or similar. Weight: approximately 2.18 lbs.Condition: Antique condition with one small chip/flaked area along the outer black edge, clearly shown in the close-up photographs. There is overall age-related glaze crazing, particularly visible on the underside and also present on the decorated surface. Minor glaze/edge wear and natural variations in the hand-painted and fired finish are present. Blue/purple coloration can be seen through portions of the dark rim glaze and appears consistent with the original glazed decoration. No obvious cracks or repairs were observed during inspection.The decorated face remains exceptionally attractive and displays beautifully.Please review all photographs carefully, including the detailed close-ups of the rim, underside, factory markings, crazing and small edge chip, as the photographs form an important part of the condition description.Authentic period PZH / Plazuid Gouda pottery with a particularly bold Art Deco presentation and desirable large model 846 form.
