Beautiful vintage Japanese landscape painting, hand-painted in gouache and mineral pigments on gold-flecked paper, signed Shunpo (春甫) with the artist\'s red seal, encased in a wooden and glass frame. The scene shows a classic blue-green mountain landscape with a red pagoda and temple complex, a scholar and his attendant walking a mountain path, and fishermen poling a boat across a misty lake. The painting is mounted with a woven silk brocade border in the traditional hanging-scroll style and presented under glass in its original lacquered wood frame with hanging wire attached. Dating to the mid-20th century (c. 1930s–1950s), this piece has wonderful decorative presence — the raised, textured dots of pigment on the trees and rocks catch the light, and the gold-flecked ground gives the whole scene a soft warm glow. A striking large-format piece for anyone who loves Japanese art, Asian-inspired interiors, or vintage chinoiserie/japonisme decor.
