One of Sugimoto\'s most celebrated photographic projects, Theaters documents historic movie theaters, drive-ins, and other cinematic spaces using extremely long exposures. Sugimoto exposed each photograph for the duration of the projected film, causing the movie itself to collapse into a luminous white screen while illuminating the surrounding architecture.
This substantial monograph contains 130 black-and-white photographs, including 21 images that had not previously been published at the time of publication. The book is now out of print.
