Wonderful piece of Washington, D.C. jazz history featuring an original Charlie’s Georgetown club card hand-signed in red ink by legendary jazz vibraphonist Red Norvo.
The card also features Charlie Byrd’s printed/facsimile signature. Byrd was associated with Charlie’s Georgetown, the celebrated Washington jazz venue that operated during the early 1980s.
One side of the card asks patrons to keep conversation to a minimum out of respect for the performing artists. The reverse advertises the club’s $8.00 per-person music charge plus a two-drink minimum, giving this piece terrific period character.
