Item Description: Up for sale is amuseum-quality, large-format antique glass halftone printing screenmanufactured by the legendary Max Levy & Co. (Philadelphia, PA). This pieceis a remarkable survivor of print media history. Dimensions: 20.5 inches x 16.5 inches (Large format) Ruling: 65 Lines Per Inch (LPI). Thiscoarse ruling was historically used for high-speed vintage newspaper photoreproduction. Because the lines are spaced for newsprint, the grid pattern isbeautifully visible to the naked eye, making it an incredible display piece. Markings: Retains its original factorymetal protective rim, clearly stamped with the Max Levy name, location, andspecifications.

Myhistory with these Screens: These screens were used in aPhoto-Engraving Business (1950 – 1983). My Father was employed there and keptthe screens when it closed. I kept them when he passed. They have beencarefully stored in a climate controlled environment since they were new.

Condition: PRISTINE / EXCELLENT. The optical glassis perfectly clear with zero internal separation, clouding, or peeling betweenthe laminated layers. The etched grid is completely intact. There are a fewtiny chips in the glass where it meets the frame…assume they were caused whenthe glass was put into the frame. This is an exceptionally rare find, as mostsurviving screens from this era suffer from moisture damage or adhesivedegradation. Perfect for letterpress printmakers, printing historians, or as astriking industrial design display piece.
