This striking piece is known as “Marianne’s Silver Mesh”— a Scandinavian modernist waffle/grid design set with a bib necklace, matching drop earrings, and a rigid bar-link chain. Marianne Berg designed this set for Uni David-Andersen in Norway, circa 1966. The waffle/grid lattice motif with the ball-and-cross bar-link chain is characteristic of Berg’s geometric mid-century Scandinavian aesthetic.
The grid pendant is approximately two inches square and the chain is approximately 11 inches on each side with the individual bars approximately one inch (see photos for more detail). Each drop earring is one inch tall with the modern stud used with pierced ears.
