This page is signed by two aviation record-setters who broke new ground in flight. Extremely rare signature of two of aviation\'s early pioneers!
Signatures: "F.K. Koenig-Warthausen" and "Antonie Strassman/Berlin". Unknown signature on verso. 8½x5¼, with three binder holes at top edge and rounded bottom corners. German aviator Friedrich Karl Von Koenig-Warthausen (1906-1986) was only 22 and had only 20 hours of solo flight experience when he decided to win the Hindenburg Cup, an amateur flight award. He took off from Berlin on Aug. 9, 1929 in a two-seat Klemm L-20B1 with a minimum of equipment and fuel and landed, two days later, in Moscow. That was fine, but Koenig-Warthausen decided to keep going. Fifteen months later, on Nov. 23, 1930, he arrived back in Berlin. Koenig-Warthausen became the first aviator to accomplish a solo circumnavigation the globe by train and boat as well as by plane. Oh, and he won the Hindenburg Cup, too. German actress and pilot Antonie Strassman (1901-1952) was the second woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a heavier-than-air craft and the only woman passenger on board the Dornier DO-X\'s cross-Atlantic flight. She joined the crew on the DO-X\'s final leg on May 19, 1932, when it took off from New York City; it landed in Berlin five days later. As a young adult, she competed in numerous athletic events involving sports such as boxing, track, and cycling. Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Discoloration from verso and adjacent pages, which touches signature. Light tears at right and left edges. Staple hole in top right corner. Light nick in bottom edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
