Offered for sale is an exceptional original limited edition serigraph by Erté (Romain de Tirtoff, 1892–1990), the internationally celebrated Russian-French artist whose elegant designs helped define the Art Deco movement.
Titled “Twins,” this striking composition was created in 1987 and exemplifies Erté’s unmistakable aesthetic. Two beautifully stylized female figures stand in perfect symmetry, their elaborately braided hair gracefully connecting across the composition while flowing drapery rendered in shimmering metallic gold and silver creates an extraordinary sense of movement. Between the figures, two white doves symbolize harmony and unity, while turquoise accents and classical decorative motifs complete this sophisticated and unmistakably Art Deco masterpiece.
This work is executed as an embossed color serigraph with metallic hot stamping, producing remarkable texture and dimensionality throughout the composition. The metallic pigments beautifully reflect changing light, making the artwork particularly dramatic in person.
This example belongs to the scarcer European Edition, individually hand-numbered LXXXIV/CL (84 of only 150) in pencil and hand-signed by Erté in pencil in the lower right.
Unlike the larger Arabic-numbered editions produced for the American market, the Roman numeral European editions were issued in significantly smaller quantities and remain especially desirable among collectors.

About the Artist
Erté, born Romain de Tirtoff (1892-1990), is widely regarded as one of the foremost artists and designers of the Art Deco era. Throughout his extraordinary career he produced iconic illustrations for Harper’s Bazaar, designed costumes and sets for theater, opera and film, and became internationally recognized for his elegant portrayals of fashion, mythology and classical beauty.

The contemporary frame displays light cosmetic wear including minor surface scratches and finish wear consistent with age and display. The artwork has not been removed from the frame for inspection.
