Antique Sir Walter Scott Waverley Novels – 4 Volume Partial Set – Illustrated
Matching group of four volumes from The Waverley Novels by Sir Walter Scott, published by The Macmillan Company. Attractive red cloth hardcover bindings with gilt spine lettering and gilt architectural decoration to the front boards.
Included are:
Vol. 12 – Kenilworth
Vol. 14 – The Fortunes of Nigel
Vol. 21 – Woodstock
Vol. 23 – Anne of Geierstein
The books contain numerous black-and-white illustrations. Title pages bear A. & C. Black publication dates of 1893/1894, while a copyright page states Copyright 1904 by A. & C. Black under the Interim Copyright Act of 1904. The bindings are marked The Macmillan Company.
All four volumes have been checked and appear complete.
Condition
Antique books with age-appropriate wear. Red cloth covers show rubbing, edge and corner wear, and wear/fraying at the spine ends. Pages have expected age toning. Some previous-owner pencil marks/notations and an old bookseller label are present.
One volume has notably weaker binding than the others, with separation/opening visible at the gutter and the binding structure exposed. The other three are in better overall binding condition. No missing pages were found.
