Beautiful Victorian binding set featuring brown cloth boards with black and gilt detail on front covers and spines, with blindstamped floral design on back covers. This set is missing 1 volume - Monastery and The Abbot. Each volume features at least two novels or novellas. Light wear to covers including bumped corners, rubbing to edges, discolorations to cloth (especially rear cover of The Pirate), stains and chips in cloth.
Illustrated, Tissue protected frontispieces. One tissue is detached. Toning. Ex-library with some volumes having library cards on front endpapers. Fore edge stains on some volumes. One volume has a cracked front hinge and a library stamp on one of the pages. Bindings are sound, pages are crisp and clean.
