Antique Lenox 86½ Shape 742 Teapot with Lid
Lenox porcelain teapot with lid in pattern 86½, shape 742. Broad body, ivory ground, pedestal foot, sweeping gilded handle, curved spout, and wide gold band/trim.Green Lenox wreath backstamp and written shape and pattern numbers. The lid fits well. A matching coffee pot, creamer, and covered sugar set is available separately.
Approximately 6\" high with the lid in place and 10\" across from handle to spout. Lenox made this classical pattern in an extensive assortment of table and serving forms. Dates to c1925-1930. Replacements specifies c1925- and this set doesn\'t have the backstamp with \'made in usa\', started in 1930. (Lenox archivist Ellen Denker)
Condition
- Good overall condition. No chips or obvious scratches observed on the pot. The lid fits well, and the interior is clean, with no staining.
- Light surface wear on the broad gold band, without areas of gilding loss. The gilding is faintly thin at the very tip of the spout only, a tiny spot.
- Some small dark specks in the porcelain date from production. The foot ring has typical contact wear.
- The pot is very stable, but has a slight front-to-back rock when set on a perfectly flat, hard surface. It settles quickly.
Fulfillment
The pot and lid will each be wrapped first in archival tissue and then individually in heavy protective foam.
