\"Handbook of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate\". Printed by S. Bach, Suva, Fiji. Printer to the Government of His Britannic Majesty\'s High Commission for the Western Pacific. 1923.
9 1/4 by 6 1/4 inches. Paperback. Original thin green card wrapper. 68 pages. Complete with the original fold out map at the rear.
The card wrapper is age-toned, with some soiling, wear and creasing, together with tears and small chips around the edges. In a few places, intersecting edge tears have left small sections of the wrapper edge loosened but still attached; please see the photographs for detail. Diagonal creasing to the front wrapper lightly carries through to the title page. Internally, there are some small corner creases, faint corner crumples and slight bends, together with occasional short tears at the inner margins near the gutter; all pages remain securely bound. The contents are age-toned and a little dusty. The folding map has a slightly uneven vertical fold and a couple of small tears at the upper right edge.
A rare surviving example of an official handbook of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate, printed in Suva, Fiji, providing a contemporary record of the administration, geography and development of the Solomon islands during the early 1920s.
