A stunning example of Peru’s short-lived transitional coinage.
This 1860 Un Real (KM#181) was struck at the historic Lima Mint during the brief period when Peru was moving from the old Spanish colonial real system to the decimal sol. Only three years of this elegant design were produced (1859–1861), making high-grade survivors genuinely scarce.
Obverse
Seated Liberty, radiant and graceful, holds a staff topped with a Phrygian cap while resting her left arm on a column. The national motto surrounds her:
FIRME Y FELIZ POR LA UNION

The beautiful Peruvian coat of arms within a wreath of laurel and palm, surmounted by a civic crown. Legend reads:
REPUB. PERUANA LIMA 9 DEC. FINO Y.B.

Condition
