A notable presentation copy of this uncommon postwar memoir and Christian testimony by Mitsuo Fuchida, best known as the air commander who led the Attack on Pearl Harbor and later became a Christian evangelist in the United States.

This copy is signed by Fuchida on the front wrapper of the original dust jacket (now laid in), accompanied by a handwritten inscription in English and Japanese, including a Biblical reference (“Luke 23:34”). The front free endpaper bears an additional contemporary presentation inscription: “To Sid Hoagenson with appreciation for your splendid work for Him through Sky Pilots. Elmer B. Sachs. Romans 8:31.” Elmer B. Sachs was a founder and leading figure in the Sky Pilots organization, which sponsored Fuchida’s American ministry and the publication of this work.

The volume includes photographic illustrations, including a portrait of Fuchida and images relating to his aviation career and later activities. Contents include chapters such as “I Bomb Pearl Harbor” and “I Learn the Miracle of Love,” charting his wartime experience and subsequent religious conversion.

Condition: Good+ Moderate wear to cloth, with fading to spine and edges, light rubbing to the outside boards. Internally clean, with the aforementioned inscriptions.

A desirable association copy, linking Fuchida directly with Elmer B. Sachs and the Sky Pilots movement, and illustrating the network through which his postwar message was disseminated.
