This is a framed Braves home-plate replica signed by Bream to commemorate “The Slide.”
On October 14, 1992 — Game 7 of the NLCS at Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium — the Braves trailed the Pirates 2–1 in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. Francisco Cabrera singled to left. Bream, running from second with a bad knee and no speed, beat Barry Bonds’ throw home by inches. Umpire John McSherry called him safe. The Braves won 3–2 and went to the World Series. That play is simply called The Slide.
