The standout feature of this box is the beautiful original interior Chesterfield lithograph. The colorful label features a classical portrait surrounded by books, writing materials, sword, gloves, flowers and estate imagery, along with the C.C. Bickel signature and small “Bickel's Cigars” banner. Colors remain remarkably strong considering the age of the box.

The box also retains portions of its original federal tax stamp, union-made cigar label and exterior Chesterfield advertising. The front is marked “Perfecto Grande.”
C.C. Bickel was a longtime Louisville cigar manufacturer with documented operations extending back into the 19th century. Historical Louisville records also identify the company's Main Street operation as the “Dan'l Boone Cigar Factory.”
Condition is shown thoroughly in the photos. There is substantial age-related paper loss and wear to the exterior covering and labels, staining/soiling, and general surface wear consistent with an antique cigar box. The interior Chesterfield label is considerably better preserved and remains the highlight of the piece. Lid remains attached.
A very attractive early Louisville tobacciana piece and an especially nice display box when opened. Chesterfield examples from C.C. Bickel appear to be considerably less common than the company's better-known Daniel Boone boxes.
