Scene: Detailed interior view of the hotel\'s Grill Room, with numerous formally set dining tables, decorative columns, hanging lights, patterned flooring and an ornate railing. The image offers an appealing period view of restaurant and hotel interior design in New York.
Hotel: The famous Hotel Pennsylvania opened in 1919 directly opposite Pennsylvania Station. The reverse advertises the hotel as having “2200 Rooms with Bath and Radio Reception” and identifies it as Statler-operated.
Dating: Approximately 1930s to early 1940s, based on the postcard format, hotel identification and period Hotel Pennsylvania cards carrying closely comparable Statler promotional wording. An exact publication year is not printed on the card. Comparable Hotel Pennsylvania cards with this wording are documented from the period.
Printing: Black-and-white photomechanical reproduction of a photographic interior view. The slightly warm cream tone visible in portions of the card appears consistent with the paper and natural aging rather than intentional colorization.
Postal history: Unused and unposted, with no address, correspondence, postage stamp or cancellation. Only a small vintage pencil notation appears on the otherwise exceptionally clean reverse.
