VintageZohiko Lacquer Frame, Kyoto Japan, with Woodcut 1598 The Herbal of Matthiolus. Frame is decorated with three feathers and shopmark of Zohiko is on the back. In the frame is a woodcut from the book, \"The Herbal of Matthiolus\". He was an Italian Physican and Botanist. (Pietro Andrea Mattioli). I have been unable to verify the age of the woodcut and if it is an original or reproduction. On the back of the frame is noted \"Original Woodcut from The Herbal of Matthiolus, dated 1598.\"
