YOHEN KILN Japanese Bonsai Pot TOKONAME 9.5 x 8 x 3.5\" Gray Stone HARD TO FIND For Sale

Classic vintage Japanese bonsai pot with identifiable chopmark authenticating the manufacturer to be YOHEN KILN [now defunct].

Its as if this pot were carved out of solid stone.  Natural, organic, tactile.  Laos Gardens says the following about Tokoname Yohen Kiln bonsai pots:

\"Pieces attributed to Yohen are generally valued for the quality of their clay and the Tokoname-specific firing process, which provides durability and a highly prized natural texture. While it did not achieve the fame of other, more well-known kilns, its pots are appreciated by collectors for their understated, functional character and for being part of the historical legacy of bonsai pottery in Japan.\"

Unique gray color and natural texture with horizontal banded stripe and raised relief all around the midsection.

Much much heavier than it looks. Very stable will not tip or blow over. There is one large Central drainage hole with four smaller ones well spaced.

Purchased in the late 1980s at the Minnesota Bonsai Club meeting at tphe Hubert H Humphrey Center in St Paul Minnesota. One owner.  Slightly used. There are a few rust discolorations around the drainage holes. Has been in storage nearly 40 years.
