This fascinating antique etiquette book provides rules for conduct in public, social, and private life and advice on proper dress and behavior for weddings, receptions, social gatherings, travel, and many other occasions. Designed for both men and women, young and old, it offers an interesting look at American social customs and expectations at the beginning of the twentieth century.The book is illustrated with nearly half a hundred full-page engravings and numerous drawings by George Spiel and includes a beautiful color frontispiece, “At Love’s Altar.” The original green cloth hardcover has decorative lettering and design with a color illustrated panel mounted on the front cover.This antique book shows age and wear consistent with its 1901 publication date. The cover has rubbing, scuffing, fading, edge and corner wear, and fraying at the top and bottom of the spine. The illustrated panel on the front cover also shows wear. The pages have age toning and some scattered spotting/foxing. The interior illustrations remain attractive.
