What makes these meters unique?
The two attached circuit boards that RCA fabricated.
The first board, mounted on the meter terminals, provides five pairs of solder terminals, to allow the calibration of the meter by mounting resistors in parallel, or series with the 3600 ohm resistors that are mounted on each card.
This board has isolated solder lugs that provide a connection point for the meter lamp wires. These lamp wires feed the lamp board included on top the meter. This wiring is intact; making it simple to attach new DC lamp feeds.
This second, ‘lamp board’ holds a pair of series connected lamps. RCA employed a simple, elegant manner to attach this horizontal board to the top of the meter. Most of these lamps are burnt out; but are left in place to show the original connection process.

These meters came from an RCA console that was one of a limited series, manufactured in the 1960’s when multitrack recording consoles were only just beginning to emerge. RCA made a small number of these consoles, in part, to provide the highest fidelity recordings for Elvis Presley, their newly-signed premier artist.
