Collectible and highly sought pair (2) of bronze and gilt-tone bookends by Jennings Bros., Inc. featuring the reproduction of Bryant Barker's 'Pioneer Woman' Designed and copyrighted by Mr. Bryant Baker in 1927. Each measures approx 8 3/4" high x 4 1/4" long x 4" wide and are in overall Excellent condition, note one with a missing screw to boys foot causing it to be loose on base if moving, as well as few minor scratches, shows a natural patina from age, please see all photos.

This sculpture is a small-scale model of a seventeen-foot-tall monument in Ponca City, Oklahoma.In 1926, Bryant Baker won a national competition to create a sculpture that commemorates the forty-first anniversary of Oklahoma's land run, when settlers of European descent claimed vast swaths of Indigenous land. As the woman's Bible underscores, this monument celebrates Manifest Destiny, the belief that the land now known as the United States was ordained by God to belong to White Christians.
