Vtg. Bouwerie Porcelain CUCUMBERS Trompe L\'oeil -3 D Scalloped Edge Plate RARE For Sale

For sale is this vintage 1990\'s Bouwerie porcelain 3-D cucumber trompe l\'oeil (deceive the eyes) scalloped 8 inch bowl in very good condition with no damage to the green cucumbers on top of the plate. What I see are a couple of pinhead glaze skips under the edge and a tiny nick on the foot. Otherwise, the plate is shiny with no cracks or chips. The plate measures 8 inches and was made in New York and is rare and all sold out. This plate is hard to find online but I will tell you what I found out. Bouwerie is an upscale boutique retailer that commissioned an artist to create porcelain plates with 3-D fruits and vegetables in what is known as trompe L\'oeil (food the eyes) style. The fruits and vegetable sculptures were hand- painted on white scalloped shallow bowls and in this case Parisian pickled cucumbers called cornichons. It appears that the first ones made sold for $250 each and then later, according to Worthpoint, they sold for $800 each and all styles of these bowls sold out. Rare find to add to your collectiion.
