Today I am offering an absolutely fabulous vintage Alfredo Barbini MURANO heart/leaf shaped bowl or dish.
This masterwork of mid-century Venetian glassmaking features a flawless combination of elite artisan techniques that will anchor any high-end art glass collection.
It is attributed to having been designed and executed by Murano master Alfredo Barbini in Italy during the 1950s.
The interior has a solid, opaque creamy caramel toffee colored Lattimo cased glass core that is heavily infused with genuine 24k gold leaf dust (Aventurine).
It is cased in a thick clear outer layer featuring a mathematically perfect bullicante (controlled bubble) spiral grid pattern.
The clear outer glass casing layer was formulated with vintage uranium oxide. Under a UV blacklight, the perimeter displays a radioactive green glow, while the opaque core acts as a projection screen to create a beautiful contrast.
It measures approximately as follows:
- 6" long from curved indent to tip
- 5" across from side to side
- 2½" high
- Weight is 2 pounds 2 ounces
It is in excellent vintage pre-owned condition with no damage.
This collector-grade piece is free from any chips, cracks, flea bites, scratches, etc.
The underside features a textbook, highly polished, ground-flat base/pontil confirming authentic hand-blown craftsmanship.
It is smooth, clean, and stable.
The piece is well over half a century old, so you may see fine superficial surface wear if scrutinized under a bright light.
But I'm just being hypercritical right now when in reality I can't find anything negative to say.
