Beautiful vintage Westmoreland Glass Company blue opalescent hobnail pedestal compote, featuring a striking combination of translucent blue glass, milky opalescent edging, raised hobnail texture and a deeply ruffled rim.The bowl is supported by a graceful blue glass pedestal and round foot. Light passing through the glass really brings out the graduated blue coloring and luminous white-blue opalescence along the rim.Authentic Westmoreland Glass — the underside bears the molded intertwined “WG” maker’s mark used by Westmoreland beginning in the late 1940s.Westmoreland Glass was founded in western Pennsylvania in 1889 as the Westmoreland Specialty Company and became the Westmoreland Glass Company in the 1920s.
