Vintage Velvet Pipe & Cigarette Tobacco Pocket Tin Age Between 1926-1930's. Very few to no scratches. Tax tag on lid has been partially removed. Design Features:Distinctive red lithograph finish with a blue and gold central shield displaying a pipe and a cigarette graphic.
Research Done:The Shield/Coat of Arms logo featured in the center of the tin was officially introduced by Liggett and Myers around 1926. This means the exact tin design straddles the very tail end of the 1910 to 1930 era when this graphic became popular. To narrow down the exact production window, I went further in depth for the physical details from 1926 to 1940s. The shield coat of arms design (matching my photo) was introduced. This original metal pocket tin with a hinged lid from this initial rollout dates circa 1926 to 1930s.
I also checked the revenue tax stamp since the tin has of the paper IRS tobacco tax stamp with a picture of John Adams, This also verified the dates span from 1920 to the 1930s.
