This vintage 5-piece VEB Steingutwerk Torgau DDR stoneware set features a classic cream/ivory body accented by a cobalt-blue rim and triple blue bands. The set includes two large bowls, two smaller bowls, and a matching creamer, offering a distinctive example of DDR-era German tableware. The Torgau factory has an interesting connection to Villeroy & Boch: the factory was established by Villeroy & Boch, became VEB Steingutwerk Torgau following nationalization in 1948, and returned to Villeroy & Boch ownership in 1990. These pieces are properly identified as VEB Steingutwerk Torgau DDR-era production and make an excellent addition to a vintage European pottery or mid-century tableware collection.
