Vintage Sturmey Archer AW internally geared three speed rear hub for classic city, road, and touring bicycles.
Polished silver steel shell uses 36 hole flanges drilled for 36 spokes, with a cylindrical barrel and an oil port on the shell fitted with a flip-top cap, and axle ends arranged for nutted dropouts.
Shell is stamped with the diagonal \"Sturmey Archer\" logo, model code \"AW\", \"Three Speed\", \"England\", and a date code \"64 9\" on the barrel.
Internal three speed gear mechanism drives a threaded driver for a single rear sprocket; the hub is shown with a sprocket and indicator chain attached for use with a compatible Sturmey Archer trigger shifter.
