Vintage Relax-A-cizor Model 5 — complete collector / movie-prop set.
This is the classic mid-century electrical muscle stimulator made in Hollywood, California. Marketed in the 1950s–60s as effortless “exercise while you relax” for hips, waist, abdomen, face, etc. The FDA banned interstate sale in 1970 after a court found the devices potentially hazardous. This unit is sold strictly as a collectible, display piece, or film/TV prop. Do not use on the body.

- Original pebbled black carrying case with handle and latch
- Control unit — Model 5, Serial No. 2289 AV, 110 volts, 60 cycle, 22 watts, UL marked
- Power switch works; amber pilot light behind the mesh grille lights when switched ON (shown in video)
- Three intensity knobs (START / INCREASE)
- Original instruction / placement booklet (“It’s that fabulous Relax-A-cizor”) with National Charm Club insert and period photos
- Multiple cord sets with phone-plug connectors
- Round felt pads (some still in original labeled bag: “PADS MUST BE SATURATED…”)

ConditionHonest vintage condition. Case has scuffs, edge wear, and some staining on the vinyl belts/pads. Control panel has expected age and dust. Electronics were only tested for power-on and pilot light — no further testing and none recommended. Sold as-is, where-is. No returns for “doesn’t work as a medical device.”
Great piece for collectors of quack medical devices, mid-century Hollywood ephemera, or production designers who need an authentic Mad Men / 1950s–60s prop.
