A beautiful and vintage Read & Barton Mahogany Silverware Flatware Storage Chest with One Drawer.
A classic, Traditional style, the large handcrafted wooden chest has a warm, reddish brown mahogany finish, and holds a complete service for twelve.
The interior lid holds 12 knives, while the upper part of the chest has 9 large slots for holding spoons, forks, etc., and 12 additional slots to hold smaller butter knives.
The drawer has two decorative antique brass pulls and has 8 large slots to hold additional serving pieces.
Both the upper section and the drawer are lined in a soft, Tarnish-Preventative brown colored felt-like material.
The large chest, which has two antique brass Chippendale-style Batwing side handles for easy carrying, measures approximately 14 3/4 inches wide, 11 1/4 inches deep and 6 inches high.
The chest is in overall excellent, very clean, preowned vintage condition, with some marks, nicks and scratches commensurate with age and use, and one pull on the bottom drawer is slightly loose. Please review all photos carefully to attest to the well-cared for condition of this vintage chest.
The chest has a blank, engravable brass name plate on its lid.
The chest is marked Reed & Barton and Tarnish Preventative Cloth inside the chest, as well as marked Eureka, Reed & Barton, and Made in U.S.A. with a sticker on its bottom.
