The title page states: "A baby record book including scientific charts which will prove of practical service to the mother and growing child," but that doesn't do this book justice!This wonderfully imaginative rendition of the classic 'OUR BABY'S First Seven YEARS' is from 1955, published at the pinnacle of 50's kitsch. The various editions published through the years reflect the style of the day — this version has a fresh look and feel.
The book is charmingly designed by Norman E. Forgue and beautifully illustrated by Joan Ransom.
The book's attention to detail is an amazing thing that evokes devotion from beginning to end. The colors, illustrations, layout, and use of white space are all so restrained and lovely. And it just keeps coming — the topics, the typography, the paper stock, upholstered binding, and the quality of printing all work in concert to make a truly enchanting piece. This is absolutely one of those times one has to say, "They don't make them like they used to!"The photo gallery maximum of 24 images limits showing all 85 pages, but the thumbnails show that they are all beautiful.What a delightful keepsake for both parent and child!
