Wonderful large vintage Japanese ceramic Persian / longhair cat cookie jar, attributed to Maruri.This whimsical cat has a glossy white sculpted coat, enormous bright blue eyes, pink nose and ears, and a deep cobalt-blue collar with an oversized bow. The cat’s head and shoulders form the removable lid, revealing a large glazed storage compartment inside.The underside has an impressed stylized MR maker’s mark associated with Maruri, along with its original red-and-gold MADE IN JAPAN foil label. The MR mark has been documented on Maruri ceramics produced in Japan, including pieces made for various American importers and retailers. A fantastic piece of retro Japanese ceramic ware with loads of personality. It works beautifully as a functional cookie jar or simply as a large statement piece for a cat collection.Approximate measurements:

7” deepCondition: Very good vintage condition. No cracks or repairs observed. Lid fits properly. Interior is clean and fully glazed. There may be minor surface/paint wear consistent with age and use.
