Purchased as part of the project that I was working on for a friend, but we never got to run this one. It is as I received it from a great seller on .

I think I bought it back in May and I never even opened it until today. my friend preferred to run the steam engine locomotives.
This train comes with the original boxes, the locomotive box is missing a flap, the other boxes are all missing flaps in one end(see photos) so the condition of the boxes is not great, but it's cool to have them.

Every car lights up with the working light up vestibules and the whistle partially works.
I did test it today just to make sure all of the lights work, and that the whistle works(it works a little bit, not perfectly, but my transformer was not very powerful.

I think you can hear the whistle start up and then it dies out, so needs a little bit of TLC, but you CAN hear a train whistle sound, the locomotive light does work and the E unit seems to work and it runs well- even though I sell everything "as is"-as you can see in the video it does work.
When I receive this, the locomotive front headlight was missing the little plastic lens,so I bought a replacement lens which I did not glue in place.
You can see it in the photos/ video and I will include it in a little baggie with the locomotive so it does not get lost and you can glue it in place.
It is a very nice shiny train with some light paint wear to the original gun metal locomotive , all matching example which was pretty much the best example that I could find at the time, and I think it's still one of the nicest available , but you please be the ultimate judge. I am not a train expert. I'm just putting this great Vintage train back on the market.

More Lionel train stuff listed this week from a project that I had done for a friend who always wanted a pre-war layout and so I bought lots of original pre-war accessories, and Trains and we had a great time running them together- unfortunately he has since passed away, so I will be reselling everything, most of it has been purchased from reputable dealers on over the last year, we never got to run or set up some of it, so everything is sold "as is"(I only have a small length of track and one transformer remaining from the layout to test the Trains), but I can refer to the original descriptions from the sellers that I bought them from.
I will be liquidating the entire pre-war layout as well as the Trains, the project was a great success, and the person that I presented it to really loved it, but has since passed, and I am not a train collector, so I am attempting to recoup as much of my expenses as possible. Selling most for less than my purchase price.
Check back over the next month I should have most of it listed by then.
