Vintage 2-book L. M. Montgomery lot featuring two classic Avonlea titles in Grosset & Dunlap Thrushwood hardcover editions with their original illustrated dust jackets.
Included are:
Anne of Avonlea

• Printed copyright information includes 1909 and 1936
• Handwritten gift date inside: 12/3/50
Chronicles of Avonlea
• An Anne of Green Gables book
• Printed copyright information includes 1912 and 1940
• Handwritten gift inscription: “To Carol From Mother”, dated 12/3/51
These appear to be circa-1950 Thrushwood editions, based on the editions and dated ownership inscriptions. They are later printings rather than first editions.
Both books have red cloth hardcover bindings marked “A Thrushwood Book” and retain their attractive full-color illustrated dust jackets. Published by Grosset & Dunlap, New York.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear. Dust jackets show edge and corner wear, chipping, small tears, rubbing and discoloration. Chronicles of Avonlea has old tape repairs visible on the inside of the dust jacket. Anne of Avonlea has a previous owner’s name that appears to have been partially removed/covered on the front endpaper. Both contain handwritten dates/ownership markings as described above. Hardcover bindings show comparatively light general wear. Pages have typical age-related toning.
Please examine all photos carefully for exact condition. Both books and both original dust jackets are included.
