Beautiful matched pair of vintage Hong Kong resin figurines – classic mid-century Chinoiserie décor!
These two complementary 8–9” figures were mass-produced in Hong Kong factories during the 1960s–1980s for the export souvenir market. They feature the signature creamy “faux ivory” resin finish with hand-applied black ink wash for intricate robe folds, facial details, and textures. Both sit on ornate dark (black/brown) openwork pedestal bases with the authentic “MADE IN HONG KONG” stamp visible underneath (see close-up photo).
The Female Figure – Fisherwoman / Fish Vendor
• Holds a woven basket overflowing with detailed fish (symbol of abundance and prosperity in Chinese culture – “yú” sounds like “surplus”).
• Carries a long, gnarled staff/pole wrapped in vine in her other hand.
• Serene smiling expression, traditional layered robes, sash, necklace, and topknot bun.
