Vintage Hand Carved Wood Skull Staff Walking Stick Folk Art Memento Mori 41.5\" For Sale

The skull has an unusual primitive/folk-art appearance with deeply carved eye sockets, individually defined teeth and openings on both sides near the jaw. The entire piece has an aged ivory/cream finish with dark detailing and extensive surface wear that gives it a dramatic memento mori appearance.

Both the skull and staff appear to be carved wood. The skull appears to have been separately constructed and fitted to the wooden shaft.

• Skull circumference: approximately 16 inches around at eye level

Condition:
Vintage/previously owned condition with substantial surface wear, paint/finish loss, scratches, cracking, chips, discoloration and other signs of age/use. There is visible cracking to the skull and considerable distressed finish throughout. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.

The exact age, maker and geographic origin are unknown. Because I cannot document its age, I am selling it simply as a vintage hand-carved folk-art skull staff/walking stick rather than attributing it to a particular period or culture.
