A gorgeous piece of Art Deco tableware — an iridescent lustreware plate by The Hall China Co., made exclusively for Forman Bros. Inc., cradled in its original pierced chromium-plated serving stand with swing handle.
The plate has that gorgeous opalescent, mother-of-pearl glaze Hall lustreware is known for, with a hand-decorated floral medallion in the center framed by a green zigzag band, plus a repeating floral motif around the rim in orange, navy, mustard, and lilac — classic 1920s-30s design.
The chrome holder has an etched floral pattern on the pierced handle and matching pierced cutwork panels around the rim, with delicate feet lifting the whole piece slightly off the table. Backstamped "Made Exclusively for Forman Bros. Inc. by The Hall China Co. — Hand Decorated," with the holder stamped "Chromium Plated Ware, Forman Bros Inc."
Condition: Plate shows the fine crazing typical of lustreware this age, with some brown staining to the crazing on the underside (not visible from the front/serving side). Chrome shows light surface wear and a few small spots of tarnish consistent with age, no dents. No chips or cracks to the china. A wonderful functional display piece.
Measures: approx. 11.5" diameter, handle folds down flat for storage.
