Vintage Gene Edwards Quadrate #40 Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod – Mt. Carmel, Connecticut – Approx. 9’ – 3 Piece / 1 Tip – Sock & Tube
Offered is a vintage Gene Edwards Quadrate bamboo fly rod by Eugene F. Edwards of Mt. Carmel, Connecticut.
The rod features Edwards’ distinctive four-sided Quadrate bamboo construction and carries hand-scripted Gene Edwards / Mt. Carmel markings including #40.
The rod measures approximately 9 feet assembled and consists of three sections with one tip section.
Included are the plain vintage green cloth rod sock and vintage rod tube shown in the photos.
Condition
Vintage pre-owned condition and being sold as found and unrestored.
The tip section is missing three line guides, so the rod will require repair before being considered fish-ready.
The rod otherwise shows age and use throughout. The cork grip has substantial darkening, wear, pitting and age-related deterioration. Varnish shows scattered wear, marks and aging. Wraps show age, discoloration and wear. Remaining guides and metal hardware show normal vintage patina and use.
Ferrules, reel seat and remaining components are present as photographed. The rod appears generally straight when assembled, though some normal age-related set may be present.
No attempt has been made to refinish, rewrap or restore the rod. It is being offered in its present condition so the next owner can determine the appropriate level of repair or restoration.
Please review all photos carefully for condition, guide placement, wraps, ferrules and completeness. Photos are considered part of the description.
