Vintage Carlton Ware Rouge Royale Coffee Set 15-Pc for 6 England c1950 Gilt Tea For Sale

Complete 15-piece Carlton Ware coffee service for six in the Rouge Royale finish, made in Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1950s. Glazed dark ruby ground earthenware with extensive hand-applied gilding to the interiors, rims, handles, feet, and covers. The undersides bear Carlton Ware script marks, with most pieces also retaining colored decorators' production marks.

The service comprises one covered coffee pot, one covered sugar bowl, one cream jug, six coffee cups, and six matching saucers. Cups: 2+3/6" accross, 2+3/16" tall. Saucers 4.5" across, pot is about 7+5/8" tall with the cover and 6.5" without. Coordinated shape pattern 1582 impressed on most pieces, some less obvious than others.

• Well preserved overall, with little evidence of use; the service was primarily kept on display and has been in the same family for many decades.
• One saucer has a previously repaired full-width break. The clean break has no missing material and was securely bonded with Loctite glass/porcelain adhesive. The repair is well aligned, without visible adhesive runs or drips, and feels solid.
• No other cracks or repairs observed. All rims and both covers are free of chips.
• Both covers seat properly on their respective vessels.
• Light crazing on the white undersides of most cups and saucers, less so on the other pieces. No associated staining, and there's no crazing obviously visible through the red/gold.
• The extensive interior gilding remains full and has not been polished. Natural tonal variation, mild oxidation, very slight handling, but no obvious wiping marks/scuffs and certainly no thinning.
• Light contact wear is present at the centers of the saucers from cups resting upon them.
• Expected unglazed footer discolorations.
• Colored gold, red, green, blue, and black brush marks beneath many pieces are original decorators' or production marks.

Each piece will be individually wrapped in archival materials, free of fingerprints, and packed in a reinforced oversized box with dividers to prevent shifting or contact between pieces in transit.
