Vintage German advertising pocket knife for the Bayer made using the ornate "Toledo ware" gold damascene technique (interlaced gold inlay over blackened metal), historically associated with Toledo, Spain but also produced by skilled cutlers in Germany's Solingen region.The brass-toned handle scales are fully covered in intricate black-and-gold scrollwork, with a circular medallion on each side reading "BAYER." Two blades: a larger main blade and a smaller secondary blade. Comes complete with its original fitted brown leather sheath.Condition: Very good — damascene decoration and both "BAYER" medallions are crisp and well-preserved; blades show light age-appropriate marks near the base; leather case shows some wear but is fully intact.Pictures are part of the description.
