Here’s a vintage press photo that beautifully captures a rare, relaxed and friendly moment between two of Formula 1’s fiercest rivals—Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost—during the 1991 season.
Senna (on the right, smiling in his Nacional cap and Marlboro McLaren Honda overalls) was driving for McLaren Honda that year and went on to win his third World Championship. Prost (on the left, in Ferrari overalls) was racing for the Scuderia in what would prove to be his final season with the team. Even though they were well-known rivals on the track, the photo shows a candid and good-humoured exchange between the two.
