Rare, thick late-1970s Hong Kong commercial songbook. English cover titled LET’S SING; Chinese cover 「知音集」. Published/distributed by 良友門市部 (North Point) and printed by 復興印刷公司, 1978–1979 edition as stated on the colophon.
Nearly 1,000 pages of lyrics (and typical chord/lead-sheet style layout of the period) covering:- Western pop hits of the era (Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, folk, easy-listening, etc.)- Early 粵語流行曲 and other Chinese titles, with separate indexes running into the 900s
This is one of the larger, more comprehensive HK song compilations from the period just as Cantopop was taking off. Most surviving copies of these mass-market books are thinner, later, or incomplete. Complete 900+ page examples from 1978–79 almost never appear.
ConditionOriginal pictorial covers: faded, scuffed, creased, edge-worn and stained. Spine worn, with surface cracking and old tape residue/peeling at the tail. Pages yellowed and spotted. Binding still holding this very thick volume. Complete through printed page 981 (「萬惡淫為首之乞食」).
