It is built for builders who want to replace traditional plate resistors with a high-inductance choke load,improving headroom, dynamics, openness, and musical flow in suitable tube circuits.
Important: Higher Inductance Is Not Always Better
In anode choke applications, choosing the correct choke is not simply about selecting the highest inductance value.
The tube’s plate resistance, operating current, circuit voltage, core design, winding structure, and DC resistance must work together as a complete system.
This 200H choke performs best with tubes whose Rp is approximately 2–7kΩ. For very low-Rp tubes, a different choke may be more suitable. For very high-Rp tubes, more inductance may be required.
This is why VALAB offers different anode choke models instead of claiming one choke works perfectly for every tube.

This choke is optimized for low-to-medium plate resistance tubes, especially in high-performance signal stages and driver stages.

An anode choke, also called a plate choke, is a very high-inductance load used in tube amplifier plate circuits.It can replace a traditional plate load resistor in suitable circuits.
Compared with a resistor, an anode choke provides:
Extremely high AC impedance Lower energy loss Reduced heat generation Better use of available B+ voltage Improved voltage swing capability in suitable circuits
This allows the tube to operate more freely and efficiently.
