He was born in Odessa. He graduated from Kyiv Institute of Art, V.Kasiyan;I.Pleshchynsky;O.Pashchenko were his teachers.In 1950 Gennadiy was arrested (with brother, composer Valeriy Polevoy). He was accused of the formation of anti-Soviet organization. He worked at hard labor in Siberia. His works are in the museum of Ukraine.Also graphic artist, symbolist.People\'s Artist of Ukraine.Active in Kyiv.
