2. Configuration & Details:
- Fuchi: Collar crafted from patinated brass (shinchū). Decorated with fine linear engraving (kebori) featuring a hexagonal lattice motif with enclosed plum blossoms (kikkō ni ume) and foliage scrollwork (karakusa).
- Kashira: Smooth pommel made of translucent horn (tsuno). Due to the absence of cord holes, the wrapping tape passes directly over its body (kake-maki style) to secure the element to the wooden core.
- Samegawa & Oyatsubu: Ray skin substrate. The first wrapping window (haichi) near the pommel showcases a large central node (oyatsubu), reflecting high-grade material and careful planning of the skin panel layout.
- Tsukamaki: Olive-brown wrapping cord precisely executed in katate-maki (battle wrap) style featuring a continuous wrapped middle section.
3. Condition:
- Good overall condition. Tsukamaki wrap is tight with no fraying. Brass fuchi retains a uniform patina. The horn kashira shows minor surface checking and scratches consistent with the natural aging of organic material.
