In 1686 Pope Innocent XI issued a breve permitting the publication and reading of the 4 volumes of The Mystical City of God. Ven. Mary of Agreda died in 1666 and the volumes were translated from the Spanish to German and English. The original volumes are well over 2,000 pages, given to Mother Mary Agreda as visions and for the \"encouragement of men\", basically for the good of us all as we read the Life of the Blessed Virgin.
