This is Dixon\'s second novel in his trilogy, glorifying the mythology and violence of the Ku Klux Klan. A North Carolina Baptist minister, lawyer, and politician, Dixon was well acquainted with the KKK: Colonel Leroy McAfee, Dixon\'s maternal uncle, was the Grand Titan of the Invisible Empire Ku Klux Klan, head of the local chapter in Piedmont, NC.
The book is well used and was a Brooklyn library copy. The book is fully intact with the front free endpaper missing. While the Double day Page version is hard to find, this one is quite rough and priced accordingly.
