Summary: Although I made an error in my research and this tank will not fit between the rails on a 1946 ford truck as it seems the frame width changed in 1942 but it does still fit my 1939 ford coupe and I will be using it as an upgrade

Summary: Make sure to follow the mounting instructions. The tank has the standard 5 hole mounting for the later sending units. If using the original 6 hole sender you will need to purchase an adapter. If the original float is too large you may have to find a smaller float to install through the hole in the tank and adapter. This tank was installed in a '40 Ford tudor sedan. Since the stock floor pan in a sedan is different than a coupe you will have to route the gas line a little different than in a coupe.
