This gorgeous sterling silver pendant and necklace set was created by Navajo artist Suzie James (1954-2012). The highly polished oval pendant is carved in a petal pattern and holds a large piece of onyx set in a smooth bezel. The large bale fits over a heavy string of flattened, sterling silver beads, also polished to a high shine. Hook closure. The pendant is stamped Suzie James on the back.
Suzie James was the daughter of Marcella James. In addition to jewelry, she is also known for her intricate silver boxes, trays and canteens.
